Vine Manipulation - Generally this would be used as a defense more than anything else. In such cases, black harsh and sturdy vines barbed with massive thorns would form a barrier between Alan (or whoever he's protecting and the threat. They're strongly tied to Alan so his health, mental, physical and emotional state would factor into their strength and duration. It's possible some of these vines could move and throw their thorn/barbs as projectiles. If how power were to be used in a non-combat situation it would more than likely be for a mundane unimportant task like reaching something he's too short to get to on his own. If your character would be freaked out by being grabbed by vines or anything like that and you want to avoid it let me know.
